The Best Way to Sleep With Congestion

    • 1). Take an over-the-counter remedy. Many nightime cold and flu remedies temporarily relieve congestion and some have a sleep aid as well.

    • 2). Change positions. Elevating your head slightly by placing an extra pillow underneath it or sleeping in a reclining chair instead of a bed can help to relieve the pressure and stuffiness caused by congestion that can make it difficult to fall asleep.

    • 3). Use a humidifier to generate moist air, which can help relieve symptoms of congestion temporarily. Nasal drops or spray can also be used for this purpose.
