How to Do Save the Date Cards

    • 1). Decide on a date of the wedding. A time and a place do not have to be final for save-the-date cards but the date of the wedding should be a sure thing.

    • 2). Buy a package of printable blank business cards sheets from a drugstore or an office supply store.

    • 3). Purchase magnets with adhesive backs that are the same size as the business card you picked out.

    • 4). Open up a word processing program and type in your basic save-the-date information. This normally includes the month, day and year of the event, the name of the couple and the town where they will be getting married.

    • 5). Arrange the margins of the document to fit the size of your business card.

    • 6). Choose a picture to place at the bottom of the card or select a border to place around the edges of the card.

    • 7). Proofread your cards and correct any mistakes.

    • 8). Place a sheet of printable blank business cards in your printer. Print out a sheet and preview it before printing the rest you need.

    • 9). Separate the sheet of business cards into separate cards.

Apply the magnetic backing to the cards by cutting the magnets to the correct size if needed and peeling off the backs of the magnets.

Mail the cards in envelopes. Put a save the date card into an envelope and have the post office calculate the postage. Put stamps on the envelopes, address the envelopes, insert the cards and mail them. Ideally this should be at least four months before the wedding, but up to eight months is standard if your wedding is a destination wedding.
