Once the capital of New York state, Poughkeepsie lies along the eastern banks of the Hudson River and is the county seat of Dutchess County. The city, widely known as "the Queen City of the Hudson," is readily accessible to New York City via the Hudson line of the Metro-North Railroad. Poughkeepsie is also home to Vassar and Marist colleges.
