How to Clean Vertical or Horizontal Window Blinds
- 1). Remove the blinds from the window using a screwdriver. This step depends on the type of blind on your window. Refer to your user manual, as they typically have instructions on how to remove the blinds from the window.
- 2). Bring the blinds outside and place them on a clean tarp or blankets. If they are single slats, separate them.
- 3). Mix one part car-washing solution with four parts water in a bucket. The water should be hot. If you do not have car-washing solution, you can use liquid dish-washing soap. Prepare enough soapy water to dump over all of the blinds.
- 4). Dump the bucket of water and soap over the blinds. Scrub the blinds with a soft brush or a sponge mop.
- 5). Flip the blinds over and repeat Steps 3 and 4 for the back side.
- 6). Rinse the blinds with a hose. Remember to get both sides. Be thorough since soap will attract dust and dirt. Let the blinds dry outside. Bring the blinds back inside and reinstall them on the window.
