How to Make a Drawing Out of Grid Paper
- 1). Draw a grid onto the picture you want to make a drawing of. Make each square of the grid 1 inch wide.
- 2). Measure and mark the same size grid onto your grid paper. If the grid paper you are using contains small squares, there could be multiple squares per inch.
- 3). Sketch out the images inside each square of the grid from your picture one at a time.
- 4). Draw the details of the picture by focusing on one square at a time. Because each square is sketched out and organized in the grid, you can focus on a small area knowing that the total image will be compositionally correct.
- 5). Paint the image or color it in with your chosen medium. These can be colored pencils, oil pastels or chalk.
