How to Remove Rust From Counter Tops

    • 1). Scrub away the rust with a scrubbing pad. This is the easiest way to remove superficial rust on counter tops.

    • 2). Create a paste of two parts table salt and one part lime juice. Apply the paste to the rust stains on the counter tops with a sponge. Leave paste on for two to three hours so the deep cleaning takes effect. Lime juice is effective because of its mild citric acid. The table salt is a mild abrasive.

    • 3). Wet a scrubbing pad. Scrub at the rust and paste on the counter.

    • 4). Wet a sponge and clean off the rust and paste.

    • 5). Dry the counter tops with a kitchen towel or paper towel.
