How to Secure a Metal Tie

    • 1). Load the gun. First, put a crimping band in the receiver port of the gun. Lift the handle of the gun vertically in relation to the body and slide one end of the metal tie into the back of the gun under feeder slot beneath the handle, then through the crimping band. Slide the other side of the metal tie through the front slot of the gun and through the crimping band.

    • 2). Ratchet the metal tie tight. Move the handle back and forth. As you move the handle toward the nose of the gun, it ratchets the tie tighter. As you move it toward the tail of the gun, the ratchet resets. Ratchet the tie until it is tight, being careful not to damage the goods.

    • 3). Crimp the crimping band. Once the tie is sufficiently tight, move the handle to the back of the gun. With both hands, force the handle down onto the back of the body of the gun. A click indicates a proper crimp.
