How to Camp in Georgia State Parks Near Tifton, Georgia
- 1). Choose the state park near Tifton where you wish to camp. Reed Bingham State Park is the closest option, being just a 15- to 20-minute drive from town. You may also choose General Coffee State park or the Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park; however, both of these parks are about an hour drive from town.
- 2). Pay the required fee at the park to camp for the amount of time that you plan on staying. The parks have both primitive and developed camping areas as well as RV accommodations. Select the type of camping you wish to do and pay the fee at the park headquarters.
- 3). Set up camp in your designated campsite. Upon paying for your stay, you will receive a permit card that you display on your car's dashboard and a map of the campground. This card will have a campsite number indicating where you will be able to park your vehicle and set up your tent or park your RV.
- 4). Obey all park ordinances while out camping. Campfires, if allowed, are designated in specified fire rings only and need to be completely extinguished prior to leaving your campsite. Park quiet time hours will be enforced. These are typically nighttime hours, such as from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., or other hours designated by the park.
