How to Build a Virtual Woman

Things You'll Need

Step 1:

Click on the link in "Resources" at the bottom of this page that leads to an short introduction to DAZ Studio. On that page you will find the banner pictured here; click on it to go to the main site. DAZ productions has many products for the 3D modeler and computer animator, but the basic DAZ Studio with a virtual woman is actually free to download!

Step 2:

Select an option: When you reach the home page of the main site there are several options. If you want to get started right away, look for the link on the upper right to create an account with DAZ. There is no charge to set up an account. Follow the steps to provide information. When you create an account you will have access to the Studio and many of the other free-downloadable models, as well as the newsletter if you opt in for it.

Step 3:

Look for the link at top that reads "3D Software". Click on it to go to the software programs.

Step 4:

Look at menu items on the left. Click the link that reads "DAZ Studio". This leads to the free download page. The other programs can be purchased and are compatible with the DAZ generated models. (At some point you may also wish to visit the FAQ page and check for the system requirements by typing in "system requirements" in the search field. If you have an up-to-date computer that plays most gaming programs, you can skip checking because your computer can probably handle it.)

Step 5:

Look for the link at lower right that reads "Download for Free"

Step 6:

Scroll down to the bottom of the download page. The items at top are usually different software they are offering for purchase. Look for the download choices as pictured here. Choose for Windows (PC) or Mac for Macintosh.

Step 7:

After your download, choose "Run" to install the program and follow the automatic steps. Generally you can just click 'yes' to each step. Once the program is installed, watch for the instructions about where to find it and activate it. DAZ has many tutorials, within the program, and also on-line to help you get going. The models are generated automatically, and a virtual woman named "Victoria" is provided free, along with the basic Faerie clothing and accessories that are pictured in the image that I created and posted here. The background of this image was created with Bryce, a landscape modeling program also offered for purchase by DAZ Productions.
