How to Remodel Dining Rooms
- 1). Paint the walls a color that reflects your taste and complements the dining room furniture, along with decor in the room. Dark colors usually don't work in dining rooms unless you are just painting one accent wall forest green or plum. Use neutral shades such as beige, tan or other shades of brown to dress up the walls. Leave the ceiling white.
- 2). Refinish your dining room table or upgrade your furniture, depending on what your budget allows. New furniture is not always practical, but upgrading furnishings is a quick way to remodel a dining room.
- 3). Install a new chandelier above your dining room table. The chandelier alone adds so much to your dining area. The type of lighting fixtures you choose can make your dining room more simple or elegant. However, buying new light fixtures is not necessary, unless you want to completely remodel the room; investigate thrift shops and secondhand stores for fixtures that you can fix up with new crystals or paint.
- 4). Adorn your dining room table with a tablecloth and place some fresh roses, daisies or other flowers in a vase. Place the flowers on the middle of the table. Choose tablecloths that match the colors in the room. Use light pastel or white table colors if your color scheme is light, and choose bold rich colors like burgundy if you have an accent wall or dark cherry wood dining chairs and a china hutch.
- 5). Install a decorative wall clock on the wall. Avoid cluttering this area with pictures and framed photos. The dining area is a more sophisticated wing of a home.
