Spices Are Powerful Weight Loss Weapons

There are a number of causes of obesity and they can manifest themselves in different ways but, no matter the cause, the result is the storage of excessive amounts of fat on the body.
Food is intended to be used as energy and if the intake of food exceeds the amount of energy used, by forms of exercise, the excess energy is then stored as body fat.
These fat deposits allow the body to store energy if food is plentiful in preparation for when food is scarce.
Regrettably, even when there is no sign of a food shortage the body continues to store food as fat deposits and makes weight loss difficult.
Although the most common cause of obesity and lack of weight loss is the intake of too much food and not enough spent energy, there are certainly other causes.
These vary and may include genetics; lack of sleep and stress; eating disorders caused by psychological trouble; certain medicines; a diet filled with foods high on the gylcemic index; and continuous dieting that result in weight cycling.
All of the causes of obesity have one thing in common and that is that they interfere with our ability to control our appetite.
Appetite or Satiety control is the key to allowing us to maintain an ideal weight.
When the Satiety control mechanism malfunctions, controlling our weight becomes difficult.
Taste and smell are two senses that can help to control our appetite and lead to weight loss or weight maintenance.
There are receptors in our nose that when stimulated by the smell and taste of certain spices cause activation of our satiety control, telling the body that enough food has been consumed.
There are three reasons spices are successful as an appetite suppressant.
1.
The strong smell and flavor of certain spices, such as chillies, release hormones known to suppress the appetite and decrease the feeling of hunger.
2.
Certain spices, garlic and chillies, have proven to increase the rate of metabolism, which burns excess fat from the body.
3.
Fenugreek, Ginger and garlic all decrease the amount of fat that is absorbed by the body.
If these spices are accompanied by a weight loss regimen, they can be a valuable natural tool in combating weight gain and obesity.
