Acne Vulgaris Causes

Every individual in his or her lifetime gets acne.
There are many types for this condition and one is a cystic type which upon bursting causes an ugly appearance.
The cause of acne should be known first to fight with it.
It develops from pores of hair follicles on the skin.
It is seen around the hairs.
Hair follicles have glands in them called as sebaceous glands.
These sebaceous glands produce a fluid called sebum that is oily in consistency.
The function of sebum is to prevent the skin from drying.
Sebum keeps the skin to be moist and in good condition.
Pores open into the hair follicles.
The cause of acne is clumps of pores which produce sebum, an oily liquid.
The collection of sebum at a particular site serves as a feast for the bacteria to act on.
The bacteria increase in number.
The human body reacts to a foreign microbe by producing an inflammatory reaction.
All these combined together will result in the production of acne.
The above-mentioned mechanism by which acne is produced is zit or pimple type.
It is an erupted form of acne.
Comedones are acne which does not produce any inflammatory reaction.
These comedones are in turn made up of two types which are referred to as blackheads and white heads.
When a clump of bacteria and sebum is seen to be collected under the shin due to a damaged hair follicle then a white head is said to be form.
White heads are so small that often they may be unnoticed.
When the same collection of bacteria and sebum is seen on the surface of the skin then a black head is formed with the entrapment of melanin pigment.
One should not pluck the blackheads and white heads as it may infect them and can cause bacteria to collect on top of it.
The plucking of these blackheads and white heads not only cause the skin to get infected, but also can cause to an inflamed acne as a result of breakage of the inside of the hair follicle.
As a result of breakage of follicle white blood cells migrate to that area leading to the development of a papule.
These blackheads and white heads heal as a result of leakage of sebum and bacteria on to the surface of skin followed by healing of skin.
In few cases cysts and nodules may occur due to increase in inflammation.
