Ghost Story In The Baldpate Inn, Colorado

If you are about to spend your family vacation in Colorado, it is advised to book your visit in some hotels or inns beforehand. Built in 1917, The Baldpate Inn is regarded as one of the most antique hotels that has attracted a large number of tourists and embraced a lot of mystical stories behind its classic look.

The Baldpate Inn And Ghost Story

No one knows when the ghost story around The Baldpate Innhas begun, but it is concurred that the Inn is now a haunted place with two acclaimed ghosts: Ethel and Gordon Mace. Some take this story for granted while others use it to make their stay more interesting.

Dating back to 1911, it is said that these two-ghosted persons, Ethel and Gordon Mace, were the two newcomers that built some small tourist cabins in Colorado. Then, they made the cabins as their business, and earned a lot of money. Later, in 1917, the Baldpate Inn was built according to their business plan.

Spiritually, they named the Inn after a fictional Inn found in a mystery novel, "Seven Keys to Baldpate" by Earl Derr Biggers. Being inspired by Biggers's imaginary "Baldpate Inn", the real Baldpate Inn was called, and the practice of giving away keys was formed.

From that time, every guest staying in the Inn would receive a unique key. Thanks to this, the Mace family has owned the world's largest key collection.

As time passes, the ghost of Ethel was said to haunt her old room, and the Key Room. Along with that, she also loved to sit in a wing-backed rocker and read the Bible before the fireplace. There was another sign to prove her actually existed spirit: the drinks were spilt on the tables as Ethel loved to do so.

How about Gordon Mace? It was said that the old cabins didn't allow smoking, and Gordon hated this. If any guest lighted up a cigarette, something would put it out in some cases. Besides, the guests might find that their cigarette packs were missing, and then were never found again, mysteriously.

What's more, guests and staff heard someone running up and down the stairs regularly. Up to now, more and more people have believed thatthese two ghosts love the Inn so much that they will stay here permanently.

Do you believe it? Does it make you scary? Anyway, it is a great place to explore, and you will fall in love with this land, promisingly!
