How to Fluff a Pillowtop Mattress
- 1). Take off all of the bedding including mattress cover, sheets, comforter and pillows.
- 2). Ask a helper to stand on one side of the mattress while you stand on the other. Together, pick up the mattress and rotate it so that the end of the mattress that was at the headboard is now at the foot at the bed. Rotation reduces stress on any one section of the mattress and the frequency of fluffing required.
- 3). Connect the rotating-brush attachment to the vacuum. If you do not have this attachment, simply use the hose. Run the brush or just the hose gently over the surface of the mattress.
- 4). Take the pillowtop off of the mattress if it is removable. Hang it on a clothesline outside, allowing fresh air to circulate through the pillowtop for an hour. Put the pillowtop back on the mattress.
- 5). Grasp the long-handle broom near the broom head. Beat all sections of the pillowtop with the handle to fluff it. You can also use your hands, firmly patting the pillowtop.
- 6). Replace the mattress cover, sheets, comforter and pillows.
