How to Make a Nursery in Your Bedroom
- 1). Create space for the baby's crib or bassinet. Avoid placing the baby's bed near a window, heating or cooling vents or an outside wall.
- 2). Paint the wall next to the crib or bassinet in a light, pastel color or add wallpaper. Apply removable wall decals in a theme that matches the baby's toys if you prefer not to paint or apply wallpaper.
- 3). Place the crib or bassinet in the designated nursery area. Place a fitted sheet on the mattress, which is all you need to put in the crib to prevent choking or smothering accidents. Hang a mobile above the crib.
- 4). Place a changing table a few feet away from the crib if there is enough space. If there is no space, place a changing pad on top of your chest of drawers. If you use a changing pad, it must have straps to prevent your baby from rolling.
- 5). Place a diaper pail or designated garbage bin beside the changing area. Keep diapers, wipes and other related essentials nearby to make changing the baby's diaper an easier process.
- 6). Create space in your closet or dresser drawer for your baby's clothes. Keep a basket in the corner of the room for the baby's toys.
- 7). Add other items to the nursery area, such as a rocking chair, a small table, and a lamp with soft lighting, if space is available. Arrange all items in a way that promotes ease of movement in the nursery area and to other parts of your room.
