How to Paint Indoor Brick
- 1). Lay a drop cloth down to protect the floor of your work area. Outline the edges of the brick wall with painters tape to prevent paint from spilling over to unwanted areas.
- 2). Stir the paint with a paint stick. Standard water-based paint is fine to use for indoor brick. Dip your brush into the paint and start cutting the edges of the brick wall where the tape is located. Use your brush to remove excess paint that can puddle in between the brick crevices.
- 3). Pour the paint into a paint tray. Attach the paint roller to a telescopic painting pole. For smooth brick, a standard nap roller will be fine. For bricks with a rough exterior, use a thicker nap paint roller.
- 4). Dip the roller in the paint and begin rolling out the paint onto the brick. Apply the paint in a "W" fashion. Apply the paint in small section, moving on to another when complete.
- 5). Fill in the mortar between the bricks with a paint brush for spots missed with the roller. Apply a second coat, cutting the brick first with a brush, followed by the roller.
