Natural Way to Reverse Gray Hair
- 1). Calculate the amount of henna required. Shoulder-length hair typically requires around one pound of henna. Half a pound of henna should be added for each six inches of hair length past the shoulders.
- 2). Mix the henna in a bowl with lemon juice. Add a couple of drops of lemon juice as you stir the mixture until it thickens into a thick sludge. Vinegar can be added instead of lemon juice in the same way. The finished mix should have the consistency and thickness of yogurt.
- 3). Let the henna mixture sit for about 12 hours. This will allow the mixture to settle and increase the strength of color release into your hair.
- 4). Separate your hair into four or five sections. Separating your hair in this way will allow you to access the root areas of your scalp and increase the effectiveness of the henna coloring.
- 5). Apply the henna paste. Wear rubber gloves when applying the paste to prevent the dye from staining your hands. Roll your sleeves up to avoid dying your clothing. Work the paste right into the root areas of your hair and from the base areas to the tips of your hair strands. Work section by section until all of your scalp is saturated in the henna mixture.
- 6). Put a shower cap on your hair once the henna has been applied. Before putting the cap on, gather up your hair so that it forms a bun on the top of your head.
- 7). Leave the henna mixture on for one to two hours if you have mild to moderately graying hair. For grayer hair, leave the mixture on for around three hours.
- 8). Wash the henna out of your hair using tap water. Clean your hair with a conditioning shampoo once the henna is fully removed. Hair dyed using henna will usually retain its color for around six to eight weeks.
