How to Get Rid of Metal Stains in a Swimming Pool

- 1). Soak a clean cloth with white vinegar. White vinegar is a mild acidic cleaner that will not damage your pool's texture and coating but that will counteract the alkaline rust stain.
- 2). Lay the cloth over the metal stain.
- 3). Cover the cloth with plastic wrap to prevent it from drying.
- 4). Let the cloth sit there for 24 hours. Rewet the cloth as needed.
- 5). Remove the cloth and scrub the area with a soft-bristled brush.
- 6). Scrub the stain with a pool pumice stone until you remove the rust stain.
- 7). Rinse the area with clear water.
