- 1). Measure the hemline you will be attaching the tulle to. Use a flexible measuring tape to make this measurement as exact as possible. Add a 1/2 inch to this measurement for attaching the ends later.
- 2). Cut out the tulle according to the measurement of the hem. Add a 1/ 2 inch onto the width you would like the tulle to come out to, normally one to three inches.
- 3). Pin the tulle onto the mermaid hem making sure to pin the extra 1/ 2 inch underneath the hem. Line up the seam where the two ends of tulle meet up in a discreet location.
- 4). Sew the tulle onto the hem either with a sewing machine or by hand. If using a sewing machine, use a zigzag stitch to get the best results.
