    Bob Hope Airport

    • The Bob Hope Airport in Burbank airport is off Interstate 5, about eight miles from Universal Studios. It opened in 1930, and at the time was the primary airport for the Los Angeles area. The airport was named after Bob Hope in 2003, and serves about 5 million passengers annually. Alaska, American, Southwest, JetBlue, Delta Connection, US Airways and United Express serve the airport. It has two terminals and offers frequent service along the West Coast. The airport also handles connecting and nonstop flights throughout the country.     • Long Beach Airport is 32 miles from Universal Studios, off Interstate 405. The small airport has one terminal, split into two sections. It offers regional flights and serves approximately 3 million passengers annually. JetBlue, Alaska, Delta and US Airways serve Long Beach. Some nonstop destinations include Seattle, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Austin, Boston, Portland and Washington, D.C. The airport offers concessions, a newsstand and complimentary wireless Internet throughout the terminal.

    • Van Nuys Airport is about 21 miles from Universal Studios, off Interstate 405. It opened as the Metropolitan Airport on Dec. 27, 1928. The airport has been used in several movies, including "Casablanca," "American Beauty" and "Hell's Angels." The airport is for noncommercial air travel, and is the busiest general aviation airport in the world. The 730-acre facility has more than 100 businesses on its premises that specialize in flight instruction and aircraft storage and charter. The airport has two parallel runways, a fire department and the City Helicopter Center.

    Santa Monica Municipal Airport

    • The Santa Monica Municipal Airport is off interstate 10 and 405, about 20 miles from Universal Studios. This general aviation airport has one runway, and is the oldest operating airport in Los Angeles County. The first aircraft there were World War I bi-planes in 1919. Several aviation schools at the airport allow you to earn your private pilot license.
