August 2012 has suddenly gotten a lot busier for horror fans, as four -- count 'em four -- major genre films have been scheduled for that month. Late summer is traditionally a studio dumping ground for horror and suspense, and next year will be no exception, with these newly situated offerings:
August 10
- Warm Bodies: Summit, the studio that brought us human-vampire love in Twilight, returns with human-zombie love in this film based on the Isaac Marion novel.
August 24
- The Apparition: Pushed back from the fall of 2011, this ghost story stars Ashely Greene (Twilight) as a college student haunted by a supernatural entity released by a school experiment.
- Sinister: Ethan Hawke plays a journalist who writes books about real-life murders and moves his family into a house that was the site of a mass murder, where he discovers "found footage" that shines light on that tragedy.
August 31
- The Possession: The movie formerly known as The Dibbuk Boxstars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick as the parents of a girl who becomes possessed by a malevolent spirit tied to a mysterious box. Besides changing its name, the film has now been postponed twice, first from October 2011 and now from January 2012 all the way to August. A bad sign?
