• 1). Use a computer with internet access, headset or speakers, and keyboard. Open your preferred web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox). Input in the address bar the url http://taj.chass.ncsu.edu/before_begin.html and do the tasks needed for your computer. After doing so, you can start visiting another website address: www.avashy.com/hindiscripttutor.htm. If you are a beginner, always start with the Hindi alphabet. You can learn the consonants and vowels using Devanagari script by clicking the task you want to do. If there are symbols shown on the side of the box, check their functions so you can use them accordingly. Make yourself familiar with the alphabet and practice writing the characters regularly. You also need to know the Hindi numbers.
  
  
• 2). Increase your vocabulary by learning Hindi words and phrases when you are ready. To help you with this task, visit the following website addresses:
  * http://utopianvision.co.uk/hindi. Go the highlighted words "Hindi words" and "Hindi
  phrases. Click the word or phrase you want to learn.
  
  * http://www.linguanaut.com/english_hindi.htm. Do the Hindi words, phrases and vocabulary.
  
  
• 3). Start learning the Hindi grammar. Study each lesson by visiting the link http://taj.chass.ncsu.edu/lessons.html and just click the lesson you want to do.
  
  
• 4). Take some tests while you are learning to see your progress by using the following websites:
  
  * http://utopianvision.co.uk/hindi/tests. You will match the English words with their
  Hindi equivalents. Also go to the links under "Sections" for more words to try.
  
  * http://www.transparent.com/tlquiz/lwquiz/hindi/tlhind.htm.
  
  * http://www.avashy.com/hindiscripttutor.htm. It is a test based on pronunciation.
  
  
• 5). Exercise what you learn. You need to practice on how to write and speak Hindi. If you are ready to do it, go to the url www.mylanguageexchange.com/Learn/Hindi.asp and register as a member. Then read their free guideline before you email or chat with a native speaker. You can also do it by reading news in Hindi language by visiting this website: http://www.ddindia.gov.in/DDIndiaChannel/HomePageh.aspx. To see better results, you need regular, quality practice.
