Online Nursing Schools in Indiana

    Indiana State University

    • Indiana State University offers online nursing degrees at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Nursing Online Education Database, a website that ranks online nursing schools, rated the university's online nursing program as one of the top in the nation. Indiana State was the only traditional university to make the list. ISU offers degree completion programs leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing for registered nurses and licensed practical nurses who have not completed a bachelor's degree in nursing. The school also offers the Master of Science in Nursing with concentrations in family practice, nurse education and nursing administration and a postgraduate certificate in nursing education.

    Ball State University

    • Ball State offers the M.S.N. degree online with three primary concentrations: clinical nurse specialist, nursing leadership and advanced nurse practitioner. Because the program targets nurses with bachelor's degrees, applicants with degrees in other fields don't qualify. Students have six years to complete the program and must find opportunities for clinical experience in their communities. Credit hours required for each specialization vary; the adult nurse practitioner track requires 43 to 49 credit hours, for example, while the family practitioner track requires 50 to 56 and the leadership track requires 33.

    Indiana Wesleyan University

    • Indiana Wesleyan University also offers multiple online nursing degree options, including a post-licensing Bachelor of Science in Nursing for registered nurses without a bachelor's degree. At the master's degree level, IWU offers the M.S.N. degree with three areas of concentration: nursing administration, primary nursing and nursing education. The school also offers certificate programs including a certificate in parish nursing as part of the university's Christian emphasis. This program trains nurses to practice within the setting of the Christian community by emphasizing the spiritual aspects of health care. A second nursing certificate falls in the area of primary care. Both are post-graduate programs for students already holding M.S.N. degrees.
