Southern Sudan is situated in Africa. It borders Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Its capital is called Juba. The country was once referred to as Sudan but separated from the northern part due to internal conflicts. However the overall government is still in Khartoum as the two regions haven't fully separated. The Nile River referred to as White Nile here is the longest river in Africa and passes through there forming a vast swamp locally referred to as Bahr el Jebel.

Southern Sudan is awaiting a referendum in January of 2011in order to end the longest civil war. The country is very beautiful and it's developing fast. It's of late receiving a lot of visitors, especially businessmen and women who are establishing new businesses. It's the best area to invest in and if the referendum is positive and the region fully separates from the northern part then, a lot of investors and visitors will continue streaming in. The whole of Sudan has around 8.3 million people according to a national census done in 2009.

Southern Sudan has a very good flora and fauna. The country has very spectacular and important wildlife populations in Africa. The country has also witnessed some of the largest wildlife migration in the world. The notable area include Boma National Park , Sudd Wetland and Southern National Park provide some of the large populations of antelopes known as Kob and Topis, giraffes, buffalos, lions and hartebeests, also another type of antelope. The area's forest reserve is a habitat for giant forest hogs, elephants, chimpanzees and monkeys.
