What are Pomegranates Good for

    Fruit

    • The "red wonderful pomegranate" is the most common. It is roughly the size of an apple and has many seeds in a spongy white pulp inside. The seeds are the only edible part. Pomegranates are high in fiber and low in calories, five grams and 80 calories per a half cup.

    Juice

    • Pomegranate juice can be prepared in a juicer or purchased in stores. It is high in Vitamin C and potassium, and is a good source of antioxidants.

    Appetizers and Salads.

    • Pomegranates can be used in a yogurt dip and guacamole. They make a great addition to salsas and salads.

    Sauces and Beverages

    • Pomegranates are used in dressings, glazes, relishes, syrups, jellies and marmalades. They are also used in champagne, margaritas, cider, and other cocktails.

    Holiday Decorations

    • Pomegranates add color and adornment to holiday garlands and wreaths. They can be used whole or cut in half and dried.

    • Pomegranates stain so be careful when handling and eating.
