Game Facts on Pokemon Emerald

    Identification

    • "Pokemon Emerald" from 2005 is the third game that takes place in the lands of Hoenn. It shares many elements with the other two Hoenn games, "Pokemon Ruby" and "Pokemon Sapphire." However, it adds some options like Pokemon breeding and new battle locations, such as Battle Frontier.

    Compatibility

    • "Pokemon Emerald" was released for the Game Boy Advanced system and can be played in the Game Boy Advanced slot of a Nintendo DS system. Players can trade their Pokemon in the "Emerald" version through the Game Boy Advance link cable to Pokemon versions "Ruby," "Sapphire," "FireRed" and "LeafGreen." "Emerald" can not directly trade with the fourth generation Pokemon games.

    Game Additions

    • The gym leaders in each city have different kinds of Pokemon that provide new challenges for the gym badges. A new gym leader has been added to the roster as well. The match call feature allows you to hold rematches. Double team battles have also been included, allowing you to battle two of your Pokemon against two other Pokemon trainers at the same time.

    Story Changes

    • The storyline in the "Emerald" version calls for you to battle against two Pokemon teams instead of one. Team Aqua and Team Magma will awaken their most powerful Pokemon, and you have to stop them from fulfilling their destructive plans.

    Pokemon Changes

    • There are new Pokemon to catch in "Emerald," while some Pokemon from "Ruby" and "Sapphire" don't appear at all. For example, you can now choose one of the Johto Starter Pokemon once you have completed your Hoenn Pokedex. Some of the "Ruby" and "Emerald" Pokemon can still be added to "Emerald" if you can trade with someone with one of those games. These Pokemon include Meditite/Medicham, Surskit, Masquerain, Roselia, Zangoose and Lunatone.
