Home Remedy for Mange

    Olive Oil Mixture

    • Mix 2 tbsp. each of garlic powder and goldenseal powder with 1/4 cup of olive oil. Apply this mixture to the affected area. The mixture should kill the mites, which will ease the irritation and allow the coat to return to normal.

    Borax Mixture

    • Create a 1 percent hydrogen peroxide solution with water and Borax. Use 1 to 2 tbsp. of borax for every 500 cc of 1 percent hydrogen peroxide. Wash your dog in the solution, and let it dry naturally. This can be done up to once per week, but should not be done for more than two months at a time. Bathing in peroxide and borax kills the mites and should return your dog to normal. Brushing between baths helps to loosen and remove the mites from the skin.

    Other Remedies

    • Applying plain yogurt containing acidophilus to the inside of the ears can help to kill the mites and relieve the irritation associated with mites and mange.

Adding apple cider vinegar to your dog's food can also help to relieve the symptoms associated with mange.

You should also clean your dog and the dog's bedding often while treating for mites to help remove them. During an outbreak of mange it is advisable to wash your dog's bedding as often as possible, even daily. Use warm soapy water to clean the dog, and wash the bedding in hot water.
