Ideas for a Bedroom Hangout

    Convertible Futon

    • Replace your bed with a futon that folds into a couch. Not only does this provide more seating, it also reduces the amount of space your bed takes up in a room. A bed is a natural focal point in a room, and it takes away from its utility as a hangout. Choose a cheap metal futon for this purpose, or a sturdier wooden futon. Match the wood to the wood of your bedroom for a more finished look.

    Beanbag Chairs

    • When you want a fun '70s look, strew beanbags chairs around on the floor. Beanbag chairs are easy to move and they are also comfortable when hanging out with your friends. When they are not in use, stash them under the bed or in a closet to get more walking space.

    Folding Table and Chairs

    • Invest in a folding table and chairs. A folding table and chairs gives you and your friends a place to sit and to converse. Eat at the table or use it for games or other activities. A folding table and chair set may be collapsed when it is not in use and stored in the closet, under the bed or behind other furniture.

    Wall Decorations

    • Make your bedroom a pleasant place to sit and converse by decorating the walls. Large swaths of empty white walls make a place look institutional and bland. If you are simply sleeping in the bedroom, this is not a problem, but if you are looking to bring people in, give them something to look at. Prints in cheap frames and framed posters are a good way to add interest to the walls, as are cloth wall hangings.
