How to Use a Sorby Texturing Tool

- 1). Place the wooden object into a wood lathe, using the instructions supplied by the lathe manufacturer. A lathe is a machine that spins the wood, making it easier to create patterns.
- 2). Grasp the handle of the Sorby texturing tool and place the circular wheel along the surface of the wooden object so that the handle is horizontal to the object's surface.
- 3). Move your hand back and forth to rotate the wheel of the texturing tool and to create a texture in the wood surface. If deeper impressions are desired, lift the handle of the tool at a slight angle and press down harder on the tool. If lighter texturing is desired, lower the handle closer to the object and apply less pressure.
- 4). Continue moving the Sorby texturing tool over the surface until the entire object has been texturized, or until the desired effect is achieved.
