How to Make Electrical Diagrams
- 1). Draw the symbol for a power source. Label the positive and negative sides of the power source. List the voltage of the power source next to the battery. According to The Electronics Club, electricians place the battery on the right side of the diagram; scientists place the battery at the top of the diagram. The placement is essentially a matter of preference.
- 2). Draw straight, sharp lines from the positive end of the power source. This indicates the wires in the circuit.
- 3). Draw the appropriate symbol the current encounters as it flows through the system. As you draw a line from the positive side of the power source, imagine the current flowing through the line as you examine your circuit. If the current encounters a resistor, draw this symbol and continue the line of current after the symbol.
- 4). End the circuit at the negative terminal. Draw the symbols for each component in the circuit as you encounter them until you reach the end of the circuit, which is the negative terminal of the power source.
