How to Build Wall Gun Racks
- 1). Place the 1-by-6-by-24-inch boards with the 6-by-24-inch side flat against a work surface. These are the sides of the rack. Orient them vertically on the work surface so the 6-inch ends are on the bottom and top and the 24-inch edges are on the sides.
- 2). Measure down 2 inches from the top 6-inch-wide end of the boards on one 24-inch side. Mark the measurement with a pencil. Measure down 6 inches from the top end on the same 24-inch side of both boards and mark that measurement.
- 3). Form a curve that starts at the 2-inch pencil mark and goes gradually inward and downward and curving back up toward the 6-inch pencil mark. This will form the support for the gun to rest across.
- 4). Measure down 2 inches and 6 inches down, starting from the previous 6-inch mark, on both boards, and transfer the same curve too. Repeat this process again to create a third rest for a gun.
- 5). Cut out each of the three gun-rest curves from each board using a band saw. Sand the cut edges with a scrap of fine-grit sandpaper.
- 6). Lay the side boards with the back 1-by-24-inch edge flat on a work surface so they are parallel to each other with the inside faces 22 inches apart.
- 7). Insert one 1-by-6-by-22-inch board between the side boards at the top end with the 6-by-22-inch side flat against the work surface. Insert a second 1-by-6-by-22 inch board down 12 inches from the top with the 6-by-22-inch board flat on the work surface. These are the cross supports.
- 8). Fasten the cross supports to the sides by driving four evenly spaced flush trim wood screws through the outside face of the sides into the ends of the cross supports with a screw gun.
- 9). Position the remaining 1-by-6-by-22-inch board between the bottom ends of the side boards with the 1-by-22-inch side flat against the work surface. This is the bottom board. Drive four evenly spaced flush trim wood screws through the outside face of the side boards into each end of the bottom board.

Apply wood finish to the gun rack with a paintbrush and allow it to dry for at least 4 hours. - 11
Hold the rack against the wall and drive two flush trim wood screws through each of the cross supports into the wall studs.
