How to Size an AC Register for a Room
- 1). Remove the original vent cover to expose the opening in the floor, ceiling or wall.
- 2). Measure and record on a piece of paper the width and length of the opening in which you will fit the damper part of the register.
- 3). Compare your measurement with the standard sizes of registers at a hardware store.
- 4). Purchase a new register.
- 5). Place your new register into the duct opening.
