How to Cleanly Shave Underarms
- 1). Take a warm shower or bath, and wash your underarms with soap and water. Washing your armpits removes deodorant residue and the warmth from the water helps soften the armpit hair.
- 2). Apply shaving gel or cream to your armpits. Lather the product under your armpits and wait for one minute so it can further soften the hair. As an alternative, use a moisturizing hair conditioner, as this also softens the hair and creates a slippery surface for your razor to glide over.
- 3). Raise one arm up and place your hand in the nape of your neck. This exposes the armpit area and creates a flat shaving surface.
- 4). Run your razor over your armpit in all directions, because underarm hair grows in multiple directions. Swipe the razor sideways, up and down. Use a razor with a clean, sharp blade so you don't have to apply a lot of pressure when shaving. Avoid using dull blades, as these make you prone to nicks and cuts and don't give you a close, clean shave.
- 5). Rinse your armpit with warm water to remove any shaving product residue. Pat your armpit dry with a clean towel. Repeat the shaving process on your other armpit.
- 6). Avoid applying deodorant directly after shaving, as this can irritate your skin.
