How to Remove Motor Oil From Asphalt

    • 1). Apply oil absorption compound to the spill if it's not yet dry. The compound is the consistency of kitty litter. Sprinkle it liberally over the spill and allow the compound to soak the oil up for 10 to 20 minutes.

If the oil is dry, skip to Step 3.

    • 2). Sweep up the compound and dispose of it. Notice that the oil is gone or only a little remains.

    • 3). Squirt a good amount of liquid soap -- dishwashing liquid is perfect because it's cheap and environmentally friendly -- over the oil spill.

    • 4). Pour warm water over the oil spill.

    • 5). Use the scrub brush to make the liquid soap foam up and allow the soap to work at the oil for a few minutes.

    • 6). Pour more warm water on the oil and scrub the oil away with the brush.

    • 7). Use a water hose to spray the water off the asphalt. The spill should be completely gone.
