While grey hair can be a sign of age and wisdom, to some it represents fatigue and an unpleasant sign of aging. If you are starting to see grey hairs and insist that you are still too young, there are a number of home remedies you can try to restore the pigmentation to your hair and reclaim your original color. - Natural health and home remedy websites recommend Indian gooseberry, boiled in coconut oil and water, as an excellent remedy. Rinse your hair with the water from the gooseberry mixture whenever you take a shower, or massage the juice of gooseberries, mixed with a few drops of lime juice and almond oil, into your hair nightly.
- Amaranth, an herb with a flowering blossom, is another popular home remedy. Squeezing juice from the leaves onto your hair and massaging it into your scalp may also help to reduce your grey hairs.
- Curry leaves, boiled in coconut oil or eaten raw, can also provide stimulation for the roots of your hair. If boiling the leaves in coconut oil, massage the mixture into your scalp.
- Vitamins A and B can generate pigmentation. Besides taking these vitamin supplements, eating a diet rich in yogurt, yeast, carrots, beans, spinach and nuts can help recover the color in your hair.
- Consuming a nutrient-rich diet full of green, leafy vegetables, fruit and whole grains can also improve the pigmentation in your hair. Bad diet, stress and a lack of essential vitamins and minerals are the primary causes of scalp and hair conditions.
