- 1). Turn on your jointer and flatten the sides of the posts you wish to join. Jointers are used to create a flat surface along a piece of wood's length, allowing for two pieces two flat sides to fit together perfectly when glued.
- 2). Apply an even layer of wood glue over the flattened surfaces of the wood posts you want to join. You must apply wood glue to both adjoining surfaces to get a good bond.
- 3). Clamp the two posts together using C-clamps tightened to press the glue-covered flat surfaces together. Place a C-clamp every few inches, the more you use, the better the bond will be between the two posts.
- 4). Allow one to two days for the glue to dry before removing the clamps. If the laminated posts are slightly off center from each other, pass each side through the jointer to square the newly laminated pressure-treated post.
