How to Move Heavy Vending Machines

    • 1). Put on a pair of heavy gloves to protect your hands. Preferably, use leather gloves. Wear a lumbar support for lower back support. Also, have your partner wear a thick pair of gloves and lumbar support.

    • 2). Slide the heavy vending machine away from the wall. “Walk” it by pushing each corner an inch at a time until there is about 6 inches between the machine and all walls. Keep your knees slightly bent and a wide stance to avoid injury.

    • 3). Place a set of four-wheeled hand trucks on the floor beside the heavy vending machine. Since the weight of the machine exceeds that recommended for a two-wheeled hand truck, the four-wheeled hand truck is necessary.

    • 4). Tip the vending machine to one side toward the wall so it can not tip all of the way over. Slide the front of the hand truck under the machine. Lock the hand truck in place. Level the machine out by pushing it onto the hand truck.

    • 5). Strap the vending machine securely with the straps attached to the hand trucks. Push the four-wheeled hand trucks when moving a heavy vending machine, do not pull. Have someone steady the machine while pushing it to avoid breaking the glass.
