How to Make a Homemade Potpourri Warmer

    • 1). Hammer a nail several times (in a pattern if you wish) through the sides of a tin can. You can use any can that is the size of a standard can of vegetables, which is 6 inches high by 4 inches wide. Make sure that the can is washed and dried completely. Use a sharp penny nail that is no wider than 1/8-inch. This will prevent the can from denting when you hammer the nail into it. Making holes will allow oxygen to reach the burning tea light candle that will be sitting inside the can.

    • 2). Place the tin can upright onto a table top, and place a tea light candle inside of it. Light the tea light candle with a lighter or a match.

    • 3). Place a small ceramic or glass bowl over the top of the can. Select a ceramic or glass bowl that is wide enough to fit over the top of the can, but is thin enough to not weigh down the can.

    • 4). Pour 1/4 cup of fragrance oil and 2 Tbsp. of essential oil into the ceramic or glass bowl. Select the aroma that you prefer, making sure to combine a fragrance oil and an essential oil that are complementary. For example, you can combine fruity oils with floral oils, but not with woody oils. Let your nose be your guide. Once the oils are in the ceramic or glass bowl, the tea light will heat the oils, sending the aroma throughout your room.
