New York is a beautiful state with many sights to see and activities to do. Whether you want to relax, travel around, do something special with the family, or just do some sightseeing, upstate New York has much to offer. - In Auburn visit the Harriet Tubman home. Harriet Tubman was famous for her efforts in freeing slaves. Before leaving Auburn, visit the Iroquois Museum to see the displays of artifacts from the Iroquois, Cayuga and Owasco Indians. Seward House, another place to visit while in Auburn, was the home of Lincoln's Secretary of State and is open for tours.
- The Corning Museum of Glass, located in Corning, is a place of great interest. More than 27,000 objects represent every historical era and country where glass making has been used. Some of them date as far back as the wheel-cut objects from early Islam in the 9th and 10th centuries. While in Corning, stop by the Vitrix Hot Glass Studio for glass blowing demonstrations. The Radio Museum provides a visual history of all the different inventions that made communication easier.
- This small town still holds on to the atmosphere left there from the days of the 19th-century manufacturing era. Stop for a bite at the Old Brownstone called Daisy's that was built in the 1890s. Explore historic sites on the shore of the nearby Hudson River. Enjoy shopping for memorabilia and keepsakes, including those commemorating all the films shot in this area, such as "Scent of a Woman."
- Upstate New York is very popular for its colorful fall foliage. The trees turn such vibrant colors that many travel there just to get pictures of this season. Some of the places to visit for these sights would be the Letchworth area, the Niagara Falls area, the Ontario Shoreline and the Buffalo Erie shore area. It is recommended that you plan your visit for the first two weeks in October.
