How to Clean Shaw Carpet Tiles
- 1). Clean carpet tiles using a vacuum cleaner with a beater bar or brush. Vacuum twice a week if your tiles are in low-traffic areas or daily for high-traffic areas. Use two to three passes of the vacuum to remove dirt and dust or five to seven passes for heavily soiled areas.
- 2). Blot wet spills as quickly as possible. Use a clean rag or towel to absorb the moisture, working from the outside of the spill toward the inner areas. Once you've removed the bulk of the moisture, place a dry towel over the carpet and then a heavy object on top. Let the towel sit like this for a few hours to ensure all moisture is absorbed.
- 3). Clean light stains or spots using a mixture of 1 tsp. mild detergent (such as dish liquid) per 32 oz. of water in a spray bottle. Spray it onto stains in your carpet. Blot the stained areas with a dry rag or towel until all moisture and detergent have been removed.
- 4). Remove tough stains using Shaw R2X Stain and Soil Remover. Spray R2X onto your carpet tiles to cover the stained areas, then blot away the stains with a towel. Once all cleaner has been removed, place a dry towel over the carpet and weigh it down with a heavy object. Leave the towel in place for a few hours to absorb any moisture that is left behind.
- 5). Steam clean the carpet tiles annually. You can rent or purchase a steam cleaner, or hire a professional to perform this task. Use a cleaning solution with a pH below 10 to avoid damaging the tiles. Once the floor has been cleaned, use fans and natural air flow to dry the carpet as quickly as possible.
