How to Install Static Cling

    • 1). Select the type of static cling film you wish to use. Select a frosted static cling to shield the area from view, useful in places such as a bathroom. Select a tinted static cling to minimize sunlight in a car or home. Select static cling with a decorative pattern to add color to a room.

    • 2). Clean the area where you'll install the window film. Add ¼ tsp. of baby shampoo to 1 qt. of water and mix it together in a spray bottle. Spray down the window and wipe clean with a lint-free cloth.

    • 3). Fill a separate spray bottle with plain water. Wet the entire surface with a fine mist. Remove the static cling from its backing. Spray the surface that will touch the window with a fine mist as well.

    • 4). Press the two wet surfaces together, adjusting as necessary. Run a credit card or similar card along the top of the static cling to remove any air bubbles. Continue running the card across the surface working your way down until you reach the bottom.

    • 5). Trim away any excess film by running a craft razor or utility knife along the edge.
