How to Tell if You Have Keyless Entry
- 1). Ask the seller. If you are buying a vehicle, ask if it comes equipped with keyless entry. If you are buying the car from a dealership, the information should be listed on the automobile's specification (spec) sheet. Should you buy from a private seller, simply inquire about keyless entry, which may have come standard with the vehicle or been installed after purchase.
- 2). Read the manual. All automobile manuals contain information about the available feature for the model and trim level. You will be able to determine if you car comes equipped with factory keyless entry features.
- 3). Contact a certified dealership or manufacturer. Even if you purchase the vehicle from a third party, a certified dealer or the manufacturer will be able to tell you if the vehicle was built with keyless entry. Have the Vehicle Identification number on hand, as it will help the dealer or manufacturer determine your automobile's model and trim level.
- 4). Get the car inspected by a trained mechanic. An auto repair, collision and alarm installation shop will be able to examine your vehicle and determine if it is equipped with a factory-installed or aftermarket keyless entry feature.
