Campylobacteriosis

Definition: Campylobacteriosis infections in birds are caused by a bacteria that lives in the intestine and is passed through fecal contamination. Symptoms of Campylobacteriosis include weight loss, lethargy, and yellowish diarrhea.

Campylobacteriosis is zoonotic and may be transmitted to humans and other animals. Cases in both people and birds are treated with antibiotics. If you suspect that your bird has a Campylobacteriosis infection, it is best to seek veterinary attention immediately as this infection can be fatal.

Examples: Even birds that show no clinical signs of illness can harbor the Campylobacteriosis bacterium in their intestines.
