Outdoor Canopy Tents Symbolize Hope in Disaster Relief Efforts

Outdoor Canopy tents are frequently used for activities to provide sunshade, protection from the wind, or even from insects.
These ubiquitous portable tents are everywhere and used for many leisure activities.
However, there is a more serious use for these portable shades and that is in disaster relief.
In locations where natural events have been so catastrophic as to level the housing or leave no building safe to shelter emergency crews, the relief tents may be used to provide shelter.
Emergency food can be disbursed from the shade of a relief tent, crews dispatched from a central tent and efforts to rescue or succor the victims start from a centrally located tent.
The 2010 Haiti earthquake that almost destroyed Port-Au-Prince is one example where temporary canopies provided shelter for the relief workers while aiding the victims.
Many victims were left with homes in ruins, out of a job, and with only the clothes on their back.
Relief efforts began quickly but with so much of the city in rubble, there were few safe buildings.
In disaster situations like this, there is no time to construct buildings or to fly in more than the most needed supplies, but lightweight and portable tents can serve as temporary headquarters for those workers aiding the victims.
The tents are a symbol of hope for victims of natural disasters and a source of food and water in a devastated cityscape.
The usefulness of a portable canopy is not limited to recent disasters or for use in a single location.
A portable canopy is essential for most relief efforts since they never know if there will be any suitable building to in which to locate headquarters.
Emergency medical or food or clothing locations are often located first in a portable canopy to begin rescue and aid as quickly as possible.
