Wedding Cake Ideas With Balloons & Flowers

    Carnival Cake

    • Use a carnival cake for the bride and groom who want something playful. Decorate a tiered cake with yellow, purple, red and blue fondants. Add pinstripes and dots to the tiers. Create daisies from gum paste and place them around the base of each tier. Top the cake off with an edible or inedible balloon topper that showcases the classic carnival colors of yellow, red, purple, blue and green.

    Hot Air Balloon Cake

    • Create a fantasy cake with a hot air balloon theme. Use round or square tiers and decorate them with piped ivy and vines. Use gum paste flowers to accent the vines in the colors of the reception or use white. Top the cake with a wedding cake topper that looks like a hot air balloon with the couple inside it. If the hot air balloon topper's colors are too bright, cover the hot air balloon with fondant dyed in pastel colors to soften the appearance of the cake.

    Balloon Archways

    • Balloon themes do not require balloons on the cake. Create an archway using balloons in the colors of the reception. Place a small cake table under the archway of the balloons. Decorate a cake with white or ivory buttercream and top it with a bouquet of flowers that match the reception. Use flower petals to decorate the base of the cake and the cake table for a more romantic look.

Balloon Bride and Groom Cake Topper

    • Create a cake topper from balloons by having the bride and groom fashioned out of mini balloons. These sculptures can be purchased at local party stores or online. For edible toppers, create a bride and groom from balls of gum paste or fondant that look like balloons. Place a sprig of baby's breath in the bride's hand as her bouquet.
