- 1). Rent a seed slicer from a home and garden store or a landscaping supplier. A daily rental costs around $50.
- 2). Set the slicer blades to the desired depth of penetration. Slicers usually give you a choice of a 1/4 or 1/2 inch cut.
- 3). Turn the slicer on by pulling a pull string to start the gas engine. The process is very similar to starting common home push-mowers.
- 4). Push the slicer in one direction until you have covered the length of your lawn. As the blades of the slicer work in different directions, the resulting earth should be well tilled and have a slight criss-cross pattern.
