How to Wire 12V Batteries in Parallel to Increase Amperage
- 1). Cut a piece of red electrical wire, which will be used to connect the positive terminals of the batteries together. Strip a small amount of insulation from each end of the wire. Connect one end of the wire to the positive terminal of the first battery, and then connect the other end of the wire to the positive terminal of the second battery.
- 2). Cut a piece of black electrical wire, and strip the insulation from each end. Connect one end of the wire to the negative terminal on the first battery, and the other end to the negative terminal on the second battery.
- 3). Cut a piece of red and black wire, which will connect from the batteries to the device being powered. Strip the insulation from the ends of each of the wires, and connect the red wire to the positive connection on the first battery, and the black wire to the negative connection. Connect the other ends of the red and black wires to the positive and negative connections on the device to be powered by the parallel batteries.
