How to Do an Ollie Backside Grab on a Skateboard
- 1). Position your feet in the basic ollie stance. Place your forward foot slightly in front of the middle of the skateboard. Put your back foot on the tip of the tail. Bend your knees and shift to the balls of your feet in preparation to jump.
- 2). Get up to a fast speed. Roll up the ramp backside. Backside is when the skater's back faces the ramp or curb, so for this trick you will be rolling forward, but looking down the ramp.
- 3). Smack down a fierce ollie at the top of the ramp. The basic ollie is done by jumping into the air at the same time as you smack the tail of your board on the pavement. The board bounces up into the air beneath your feet, which propels you and the board high into the air.
- 4). Drag the skateboard up toward your body so you can grab the board easier. Use grip tape to help you do this. Use your forward hand to grab the board right behind your forward heel. Compress your body nice and tight. Hold the board for a moment to gain style points.
- 5). Keep your center of gravity above the skateboard. Let go of the board as you come down and land on the slope. Bend your knees to take the impact.
