- 1). Load the image that you want to convert onto your computer by transferring it from a digital source like a camera, SD card or flash drive.
- 2). Open Photoshop. Select "File" from the menu and click "Open." In the dialog box that pops up, browse to the file you want to work with and open it.
- 3). Select the "Crop" tool from the toolbar. Use it to select the area of the image that you actually want to use. The click "Enter" and the image will be cropped. If you want all of the image, skip this step.
- 4). Select "File" from the menu and click "Save for Web or Devices." In the dialog box that pops up, choose GIF as the file type. From the four previews shown, choose the GIF that has the lowest file size while still retaining the quality that you want in the image.
- 5). Click "Save" at the bottom of the dialog. Name your file and save it.
