Stopping Facial Sweating

    Understand What's Happening

    • In order to resolve a facial sweating problem, you must first understand why your face sweats. When your body exceeds its normal temperature of approximately 98.6 degrees, your brain reacts by sending a signal to your sweat glands to release moisture. The sweat is suppose to cool you down and get your temperature back to normal. So in truth, facial and body sweating is your body's attempt to help you out in hot weather. When you are in a hot climate, there isn't enough air blowing to evaporate the sweat and the humidity in the air is already thick enough with moisture.

    Drink Water

    • If you know that you are going to be in a hot area or participating in a physical activity that day, drink at least two full cups of cold water beforehand. Bring a bottle of ice cold water, preferably frozen solid, along with you and continue drinking it (no coffee or soda) throughout the day. Water helps to keep your sweat glands under control.

    Change Diet

    • What you eat could have an effect on how much you sweat. For instance, spicy foods like hot sauce and peppers can fool the brain into believing that your body temperature is too high, resulting in facial and other body sweating. So if you have a lot of spicy foods in your diet, cut down, or at least avoid eating these foods when you are in a hot climate or before a vigorous activitiy.

    Topical Solutions

    • There are topical antiperspirants that you can use, which can be prescribed by a dermatologist or purchased over the counter, to reduce facial sweating. Two such products go by the names Drysol and Maxim (aluminum chloride is the main ingredient). The cream must be applied to the face and left on for up to eight hours. This will help to reduce facial sweating temporarily. Botox is also used to reduce facial sweating problems, but the safety of Botox is still in question.
